In the opening seconds Tomas Pool’s shot lacked pace, five minutes later Julian Lawrence’s effort at the near post was blocked and looped into the keeper’s arms before Danny Booth’s strike hits his own player on the goal line.

Sports opened the scoring in the 39th minute and sealed victory with goals in the 65th and 90th minutes.

In between Rainworth made a spirited effort to get back into the game but Modest failed to direct his bicycle-kick and minutes later had to be substituted by James Munson as he collided with Lofthouse when through on goal.

The substitution almost had the desired effect when Pemberton’s head on was headed by Munson and only a finger-tip save by Lofthouse onto the crossbar prevented a goal.
