After going down 2-1 last midweek to hard-working Grimsby Borough, they were beaten 2-0 on Saturday by Bradford visitors Campion to drop to as low as 16th in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League, First Division table with seven games to play.

Defensive lapses were to blame in an entertaining encounter against Campion, the first coming after only 80 seconds when Eli Hey was afforded time and space in the box to roll home a right-wing cross from Lee Bradshaw.

Teversal showed some character to battle back into the game, with Dave Cockerill firing a fierce drive just wide and debutant Phil Griffiths unleashing an effort from the edge of the box that wasn’t far off target.

But in an end-to-end game, Campion posed threats of their own as Graham Hall’s powerful header cleared the bar before Bradshaw forced ‘keeper Josh Turton into a full-length save. And on the stroke of half-time, it was the visitors who found the killer second goal, breaking in numbers for Jacob Buchanan to finish with a snap-shot that was too hot for Turton to handle and crept in at the base of a post.

Teversal continued to knock at the door in the second period, which opened with Khyle Sargent, their best player on the day, forcing the first save of note out of visiting ‘keeper Daniel Armitage.

But Campion were not only solid at the back, they also looked dangerous on the counter, especially via the pace and quality offered by Bradshaw, Buchanan and Hey. Man-of-the-match Buchanan was denied a second goal only by another fine, diving save by Turton.
