In the Midland Amateur Alliance match of the day, champions elect AS Plant United took on second placed Woodborough United.

It was Woodborough who came out on top, thanks to a 2-1 scoreline.

Goals from Matt Penfold and Mike Jepps condemned Plant to their first league loss of the 2014/15 season.

AS Plant have just one league fixture remaining in the campaign, and sit a mighty 20 points clear of Woodborough.

Matt Lake’s seventh minute strike for Trent Vineyard was matched by Beeston OBA’s Ryan Parker just three minutes later and left both sides happy with a 1-1 scoreline.

Elsewhere Adam Thomas’s first half strike for FC Coopers proved insufficient when goals from Graham Beavis and Michael Hall gave Rainworth Rangers a 2-1 win.

Daniel Phillips’ first half hat-trick helped Ravenshead to claim a 3-0 half-time lead at the expense of Kirkby Athletic who went on to add to Ravenshead’s four goal tally by netting an own goal.

Mansfield Hosiery Mills’ Dan Fisher opened up the scoring against Old Elizabethans who then replied through Andrew Boulton and Sean Goodwin before half time.

With neither side able to find the net again the match petered out to a 2-1 victory for OE who remain fourth.

In contrast Marc Draycott, James Duffy, David Froggatt, Ricky Hodgson, Adam Mahl and Conor Scott shared six of the eight goals netted for Bestwood MWSC against Southwell City III, whilst Victor Silas completed the tally with a double in an 8-0 win.
