A JUNIOR Blidworth football team packed with a number of promising players is hoping to sweep all before them for the third season in a row.
All-conquering Blidworth MW U12, who play in the Young Elizabethan League, were crowned league, cup and Saturday and Sunday Notts Shields winners for the second season on the spin during a very memorable campaign last year.
And that remarkable run of success has shown no signs of ending so far, with Blidworth winning all their pre-season tournaments in impressive fashion.
Manager Simon Ward, who works as a coach at Derby County’s Academy, said: “We have a great bunch of players with an awful lot of promise. Sheffield United, Derby County and Nottingham Forest have all shown interest in our players.
“We have had the group since they were five-years-old and they love to play together.
“There is a real good unity and team spirit and they are a pleasure to coach. We have achieved a lot over the last two seasons and we are hoping that this season will be just as good.
“Obviously, we hope that these players can progress to bigger and better things and hopefully a career in professional football.
“It will be sad to see them go as I have been coaching them for many years, but it will be nice to feel that we have played some part in any future success that they may have. I love the role and it is a real pleasure to coach the team.
“As a club we have got a good reputation. Players want to play for us because they see what they can achieve here. Our U11 team are currently county champions so we have a good progression of players coming through.”
Blidworth MW have also won a National Futsal competition that hosted 1.200 teams and recently added a National 11 a-side competition to their growing list of honours.
