CHRIS Kelly the ECB umpires manager is the first guest speaker of the new campaign for the Bassetlaw Umpires Association at Cuckney Cricket Club on Saturday, 3rd November.
Since his appointment around seven years ago, Mr. Kelly has engineered a complete change in umpiring policy which has seen a whole new crop of brilliant young umpires enter the first class game.
He started the classification and grading policy in 2007 which has governed first class, Premier Leagues and ACO appointments and has developed an umpire’s pathway so that in the future umpires can move forward to the next level at an appropriate pace. This means that all umpires can officiate at any level dependent on ability and desire.
The meeting takes place at 2.30 p.m. at the Langwith Road Ground and everyone is invited along for what should prove to be an entertaining and interesting afternoon.
