Andre Russell, the West Indian international who enjoyed a stint with the Notts Outlaws earlier in the summer, will return to England to feature in Saturday’s NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day.

The all-rounder took the field for Notts on two occasions back in June, in which he helped fire the Outlaws to victories over the Worcestershire Rapids and Derbyshire Falcons. Two further scheduled appearances were cancelled due to the weather.

The 28-year-old has since starred for Jamaica as the Tallawahs won the Caribbean Premier League, adding to a recent roll of honour that has also seen him enjoy tournament victories in Bangladesh, Australia, the UAE and the World T20.

Renowned for reaching speeds with the ball in excess of 90 miles-per-hour, Russell has taken 197 wickets at an average of 25.59 in his T20 career.

He has also amassed 3,290 runs in the format having scored 12 half-centuries, averaging 24.55 and establishing a lofty strike-rate of in excess of 166 runs per 100 balls.

“The opportunity of bringing back one of the world’s best players for the format is too good to miss,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“In the two matches Andre played for us, he bowled at 90 miles-an-hour, batted explosively and was the best fielder on show.

“We’ll take a squad of players to finals day, including Dan Christian, Imran Tahir and Andre as overseas players, and will pick the team when we get there.”

Notts Outlaws will face the Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the first semi-final on Saturday, with an 11am start.
