Yorkshire secured their first back to back titles since the late 1960s today.

The Tykes will now receive the Division One trophy at the end of their game against Middlesex, which saw Ryan Sidebottom roll back the years to take five wickets and Gale himself hit a quickfire 98.

Yorkshire, yet to taste defeat in the four-day arena this season, could set the record for number of wins and most points on in a season and Gale, sipping champagne in his press conference at Lord's, said: "You never quite know how lads will come back after winning the first one and if they will rest on their laurels.

"But they still have ambitions of playing for England or carrying on playing for England. When you have ambitions like that lads are not going to let up.

"There is massive determination to get the record wins and record points. It was disappointing to fall two short of the hundred obviously but it was still a hairs on the back of your neck moment walking back to the pavilion and through the Lord's Long Room, and it's been a great day."
