Honours even between Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire during opening session

Honours were just about shared during the opening session of Nottinghamshire’s LV= County Championship match against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge.

The home side, having been inserted by the visitors, reached lunch on 105 for two, with Alex Hales unbeaten on 30 and James Taylor on 11.

Both openers made 27 before being dismissed. Steven Mullaney survived two appeals for catches at the wicket before being given out lbw to Steven Patterson for 27 to a ball that came back and beat the inside edge.

Brendan Taylor then flashed hard at 17-year old debutant Matthew Fisher and edged to Alex Lees at first slip.

Under gloomy skies, with the floodlights on, the Yorkshire seam attack dominated for much of the session without being able to make any further inroads.

Nottinghamshire selected the same starting eleven that faced Middlesex in their opening match, whereas Yorkshire welcomed skipper Andrew Gale back from suspension as well as introducing Fisher.
