Cuckney can clinch NPL title tomorrow

At the top end of the table, Cuckney go into their match at home to Rolls Royce Leisure knowing 16 points will be enough to secure them a second title in three years.

They were able to gain 17 from a winning draw at Rolls earlier in the season on a day when both Will Butler and Adam Burgess scored 70 plus.

Plumtree lead the chase, and travel to face a Radcliffe-on-Trent outfit whose recent good form ended with a bump last weekend.

Radcliffe got the better of a draw at Plumtree, but having lost last week to Rolls, the Plums will be keen to win and hope Rolls can do them a favour.

The NCB Academy sit in third place, though should Cuckney gain 10 points this weekend, they won’t be able to win the title.

A poor first half to the season has left them too much, but they’d be top of the table had we started from round 12.

Academy host West Indian Cavaliers, who will have failed to defend their title should Cuckney get to three points.

Cavs blew Ordsall away last week but this ought to be a tighter encounter, closer potentially than the six wicket win Cavs enjoyed in the first meeting.

Things are even tighter at the wrong end of the table where Ordsall Bridon need to recover quickly from their drubbing against Cavs, when Clifton Village come to town.

Clifton got the better of the draw when they last met and a repeat may not be enough this time around for Bridon.

Mansfield Hosiery Mills are tied on points with Ordsall at the foot of the table, holding the tie-breaker edge with three wins to two.

MHM travel to Caythorpe as the form team of the two, but Caythorpe have only lost twice all season, just once at home. However, that was the last time they played a home game. An unbeaten 84 from James Hawley led Caythorpe to a win at Mansfield.

Welbeck Colliery remain in the relegation mix, just eight points ahead of the bottom two.

They have been in relegation form of late, having not won in 13 matches and have the fewest points of all teams in the second half of the season.

They travel to a Kimberley Institute side that secured their Premier League place last week. Andrew Parkin-Coates’ century led the Colliers to a winning draw when the sides last met.

As it is September, matches have an adjusted start time of noon.
