Both sides were all out, however Wheatley’s first innings total of 154 was precisely double that of the 77 gained by the visitors, who were able to take four points only for bowing their hosts out.

Two strong bowling performances by Papplewick and Linby saw Richard Hodgkinson take 4-10, and Charlie Blatherwick an economical 3-12 with Anston bowled out for a total of 96.

Papplewick and Linby continued their fine form by taking a full 20 points by offering a reply of 99-1, this total was secured by Alex Lloyd’s knock of 39 not out and Justin Braithwaite’s score of 38 providing the only wicket for Anston.

Clipstone batted first in their away game at Thoresby, amassing 204-9.

The two highest scores of 39 by Matt Millns and 41 by Craig Brittlebank provided 80 of these runs.

The bowling of Mohammad Yasar with 3-37 and Lew Willis with 3-63 were notable contributions for Thoresby; Mohammed Yasar supported the reply with a batting performance of 34.

Neither team were able to bowl the other out, resulting in a draw with Thoresby being awarded six points following their total of 129-8, whereas Clipstone were able to take a more substantial 17 points through gaining a winning draw.

Although details are limited, the game between both Championship newcomers, Edwinstowe and Retford resulted in a Retford win.
