Anston set Mansfield League pace

Anston (256-3) continue to make the pace at the top of the Mansfield & District Sunday League Premier Section, this week beating Edwinstowe (117) by 139 runs.

A. Perera 112 (not out) and A. Roddis (87 and 4-28) did the damage for Anston.

Eckington (94-1) had an easy nine-wicket victory over Farnsfield (92), A. Leonard taking 5-21 for Eckington, while Mansfield Hosiery Mills (183-1) had a comfortable win against Glapwell (180) by the same margin, Matt New top scoring for Mills with 81 not out.

In the bottom of the table clash in Section One, Underwood (187) came out the better with a win over Frecheville (81) by 106 runs, Underwood’s Mark Lee taking 5-10.

In Section Three Norton Oakes (200-3) managed a welcome winning draw against bottom of the table Sherwood (129-7), A. Musselwhite and A. Ryan both taking three wickets for Oakes.

A win by Chesterfield Barbarians (164) over Kirkby Portland (142) give the Barbarians a lift away from the bottom of the table.

Papplewick & Linby (255-7) increased their lead at the top of Section Four with a winning draw against third-placed rivals Wirksworth 7 Linby (160-8), Tom Bowers with 107 for Papplewick.

Cuthorpe (245-4) ,despite three players scoring 50 or more, only managed a winning draw against Belper Meadows (166-5).

In SectionFive, Byron Abbey (49-2) keep up their drive for promotion this week by beating Shirebrook (47). N. Atkin (3-25) and L. Christie (3-12) both destroyed the Shirebrook batting.

Kingsway Park (139-9) found Ashover (141-6) too strong losing by four wickets, Rodger Bolstridge 35 and 3-12 with the ball for Ashover doing most damage.

The top of the Section Six table clash between Selston (148) and Wednesday (153-3) went the way of the Sheffield side Wednesday by seven wickets, A. Nasesby scoring an unbeaten 64 for Wednesday.

In Section Seven Welbeck (214-7) keep in touch with the leaders, this week with a winning draw at Anston Ladies (163-8)

Belper Meadows (141) suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Edwinstowe (350-8) R. Mellins 65 and 3-23 being the pick of the performances for Edwinstowe.
