Ravenshead C of E Primary School have enjoyed a summer of cricketing success.
The school entered an under 11 hardball cricket competition organised by the English Schools Cricket Association U11 hardball tournament.
After matches against other schools around the county, including holders Jesse Gray Primary, the boys reached the final where victory over St Peter’s Primary, of Ruddington, at Ellerslie CC in West Bridgford saw the boys crowned as Nottinghamshire Schools U11 champions.
In the regional final the team played Leicester Grammar School for a place in the national final but this proved a step too far.
The team were then rewarded with a trip to Trent Bridge for the third day of the India Test Match.
The boys formed a flag waving guard of honour for the players as they took to the field at the start of play to the stirring sounds of ‘Jerusalem’.
During the lunch break they played an informal game of Kwik Cricket on the pitch with the aim of giving a few catches to the 17,000 crowd.
