Former Mansfield Harrier Farquharson, who now runs for Notts AC, appeared on the home stretch of the track just after 11am and crossed the finish line in an impressive one hour eight minutes and 33 seconds.

But Farquharson had to work for his victory as runner Mark Powell was hot on his heels and came in just 15 seconds after the champion.
Farquharson checked over his shoulder as he made his way down the track in Berry Hill Park but knew the top place was his as the crowd cheered him on over the line.

Speaking to Chad after the 13-mile course, a tired Farquharson said his time was not a personal best but he was more than happy with the result.
"I'm not really fit enough to be racing a half marathon but I just wanted to get round in a win," said Farquharson.
"I switched off after 11 miles and coasted it in, otherwise I thought I would damage my leg so I'm just pleased to have won."
InjuryFarquharson said there could have been better weather conditions on the day but he still would not have pushed himself any harder in case he incurred an injury.
"The weather was ok. I struggled on the hills but after half way I just kept concentrating and it was job done."
The first woman to cross the line was Sutton Harrier Claire Woolis, who came in seventh place with a time of one hour 18 minutes and 54 seconds.
"I'm very pleased to have won. I didn't know how it would go as this is the first half marathon I have done since September.
"I'm pleased because it was a tough course and I'm quite pleased with my time. The weather was not great so all in all I'm happy.
"I did not want it to be too hot so I can't complain about the weather. It was very windy in places but the rain is quite refreshing.
"Today's time is three minutes off my personal best but that was set in Holland on a completely flat course, so the two are not really comparable."
Heavy downpours throughout the morning did not make it easy for the runners or pleasant viewing conditions for the spectators but spirits remained high and organiser Steve Shatwell said he was more than happy with the turnout.
"Considering the weather conditions it has been absolutely wonderful," said Steve.
"It has been absolutely fantastic in terms of numbers –– unfortunately we don't have any control over the weather but it doesn't seem to bother the people in Mansfield –– they still come out."
