STRUGGLING Shirebrook Town staged a remarkable comeback to defeat title-chasing Scarborough Athletic in a classic encounter.
The confident visitors took a two goal lead at half time as they made full advantage of the powerful winds behind their back.
But Town showed a new found fighting spirit as they blitzed three goals in seven second half minutes to leave Athletic and their army of followers shell-shocked.
And despite a barrage of pressure late on Shirebrook held on to claim three huge points, which could kickstart their flagging season.
Shirebrook, who had lost their previous six games, gave debuts to new signings Craig Wilson and Craig Cantrell and welcomed Pete Stubbley back from suspension.
It was the visitors who started best as they took the lead after just 10 minutes through a good finish from Paul Routledge.
The one-way traffic continued and only a last-ditch tackle by Davey kept Hogg at bay for the visitors.
Scott Phillips then saw his shot blocked by Story for a corner as Scarborough continued to push.
Mark Frost was once again in top form for Town as he leapt full-stretch to save a Ryan Blott header.
Blott was at the heart of the action minutes later when Frost again saved a superb 25 yard effort.
The lively Blott then beat Rowbottom before tee-ing up Griffin for what looked like a certain goal.
But somehow Griffin mis-hit from just four yards out to give Town a lucky escape.
The pressure was relentless and it eventually told with two minutes to go before half time as Scarborough doubled their lead.
Craig Hogg rose well to glance home a Pat Miller corner past the despairing dive of Frost.
Whatever was said in the home dressing room during the break clearly worked as Shirebrook came out to start the second 45 minutes on fire.
With the elements this time in their favour Town pulled one back on 46 minutes after new-boy Craig Wilson rounded the goalkeeper to slot home.
Four Minutes later it was all square as Wilson continued his dream debut by heading home a Davey corner after Reid proved to be less than athletic with his hands in the visitors goal.
Rampant Town then stormed ahead on 53 minutes when Dominic Jones fired home to silence the vocal visiting support.
It got even better for the home side on 66 minutes when Rhodes gave them breathing space after smashing home from close range.
Athletic, who began to lose their composure and had five men booked, pulled a goal back with four minutes to go after Hogg beat Frost to the ball.
But Town proved their metal as they stood tall and held on to what could be a massive turning point in their season.
