Invitation Village Trophy 'Friendship Club' winners were Ray and Philip Watts, along with Jenny and Joe Frost as 14 Teams took part in this increasingly popular and keenly fought community fixture.

Club chairman Stan Chadwick was able to announce that during the winter months the pavilion will be extended following a grant of £20,000.

This will improve and extend the existing facilities on New Hill, as well as enabling a short mat bowling league during the winter months of 2010/2011.

Many of the bowlers will continue competitive bowling throughout this winter at the South Forest Indoor Centre, Edwinstowe.

Over 50 youngsters have enjoyed a taste of bowls this season. It is hoped a number will enjoy learning more about the game and playing on a more regular basis next season. Junior and U17 matches can be arranged against other clubs.

The club always welcomes new bowlers and this season a number have joined the club which continues to move from strength to strength.

The Green will be re-opening for the new season in April 2010. Any person, of any age wishing to join this thriving, extremely friendly and successful club, should contact secretary Ivy Senior on 01623 882536. Coaching is available.
