Southwell Rugby Club wraps up its season on Sunday (May 11th) with a Fun Day that's set to draw the crowds with entertainment for all.
Matches are now over for the year, and the club turns its attention to the new generation of players with a day of laughs aimed specifically at the youngsters – both existing club members and new recruits.
Southwell RFC has a thriving youth section that's been running for seven years, with players aged six to sixteen.
After a tough season of fixtures, tournaments and training, Saturday is the chance for them to let their hair down as well as the opportunity for other youngsters to find out what their local rugby club has to offer.
And there will be plenty to do when the fun starts at 3pm, with attractions including a
·Climbing Wall
·Greasy pole
·Bouncy castle
·Tug O War
·Coaches' match
·Barbecue and Bar
·Gladiators
Charlie Anstey, the chairman of the youth section, said: "We hope all families in the Southwell area will come along, have a fun day with us and find out more about the fantastic sporting and social opportunities that come with being involved in their local rugby club.
"Rugby is a great team game where everyone has their part to play – whether they are fast, slow, big, small, tall or short. The youngest age groups play tag rugby which is a good introduction to the sport, and once they get older other elements of the game are brought in year by year, like tackling, scrums, line outs and kicks.
"The youth section teams train on Thursday evenings and have their matches on Sunday mornings.
"We're just at the stage now where the youth section is filtering players through into the adult sides. But we are always looking for new recruits and anyone who comes along on Saturday is assured of a warm welcome."
The day will close with the presentation of players' medals and trophies.
Southwell RFC Fun Day takes place from noon at the rugby ground in Park Lane, Southwell.
