DYNAMITE Mayfair's Charlie Shaw came up with what may well have been the biggest winning margin at Sherwood Forest Farm Park last week.
Fishing Wednesday’s Gateford Angling Supplies Fun League on Holmedale, Shaw was almost 100lb clear of his closest rival.

Fishing the pellet method feeder cast tight to the island at peg 19 with pellet and meat on the hook, he caught nearly every c
ast landing 30 carp to 9lb and finishing with a stunning weight of 165lb 2oz.

It was tight for the next six places - 61lb 2oz was only enough for seventh and 50lb was needed for 15th place.

Joint second with 67lb 15oz were Pete Ellis and Bernard O’Conner.

Pete, at the side of the winner, fished pole and corn down the margin and landed 13 carp to 6lb, while Bernard at peg 22 fished pellet feeder cast to the island with corn and pellet on the hook and had 20 carp to 6lb.

Heavy rain leading up to the start on the previous day’s match on Sherwood dampened any prospect of any big weights.

Winner John Woodland fished pole and worm down the margin for five carp to 7lb, totalling 31lb 12oz.

Second placed John Wooff fished pole and caster for a mixed net of skimmers roach and rudd going to 12oz, but was some way off with 17lb 6oz.

It was Woodlands’s second win at the venue in three days, for in the Sunday evening three-hour match on Holmedale he landed 88lb 15oz to record his third successive Sunday win.

This time drawn at peg 17 he fished pole short at six metres because of the wind. Alternating between worm and meat on the hook over hemp he had 11 big carp to 9lb.

Second place went to Peg One team mate Jason Thomas at peg 19. He fished pole and paste at 11m, also landing big carp. His 64lb 15oz was made up of nine fish, his biggest going to 10lb.

l It was not just domestic matches at the Farm Park that produced ton weights, for James Maude Linden saw their first three-figure weight of the season on Holmedale.

In-form Kev Brown won his fourth match of the season with 112lb 2oz of carp caught on the method feeder from peg 22. Fishing pellet and meat he caught consistently all day.

It was a huge contrast to their first visit of the season to the park when 12lb was enough to win, for this time around all 17 anglers took something to the scales.

l A three-figure weight also won Mansfield Piscatorials’ match at Lakeside, Ranskill, where top dog Pete Tatley took the biscuit with his first win of the season.

Pete fed dog biscuit and weighed in 111lb 14oz, and for good measure he also secured his place in the KO final, having knocked out his friend and travelling companion Ben Holmes, who finished third with 71lb.
