It's been a bleak year for sport in Mansfield but it could yet turn into a vintage one. Rebecca, Sam, Arnie and Charlotte - go to China and do us proud!

Good luck to all or local athletes in Beijing. And with Oliver Wilson becoming a familiar name in the golfing world, perhaps we may see these names more often on the back page of the Chad instead of that tired old (non-league) football club and its pathetic owner.

You are the pride of Mansfield and all our best wishes go with you. We will be watching and shouting you on from the sofa back home. Bring back the medals and lets see you on a open top bus tour of the town. You are all genuine Mansfield sporting heroes.
