GREG Owen's remarkable run of form continued in the South Georgia Classic at the mammoth Kinderlou Forest Golf Club last week with a share of second place.
After an opening 74 he was down amongst the dead men facing the cut, but a remarkable run of 10 birdies and no shots dropped in 27 holes from the ninth on his second round through to the finish of his third round left him in second one behind the thi
rd round leader Bryan DeCorso.
“It was fun today,” said Owen after his third round.
“It started off a little bit scrappy but then I got it going on No. 7. I’ve been playing so well this year, so I just hope to keep the momentum going.”
Unfortunately his momentum failed to keep going in the final round when after an opening par, a double bogey at the second was followed by a dropped shot at the third and any chance of winning had disappeared.
But he dug deep and steadied the ship to get those shots back and finish with a level par 72 to share second place with Bryce Molder.
This week he sits out the Fort Smith Classic in Arkansas secure in fifth place on the Nationwide Tour money list.
