MANSFIELD Piscatorials enjoyed triple success in the National Federation of Anglers East Midlands Championship at Lake View Fishery.
The club entered two teams into the competition, the A team finishing first and the B team thrid, just behind Worksop.

Mansfield A also had the winning individual in Ian Rowney, who took top place with 37lb 10oz.

To complete a great day for the
club, Piscatorials also took six of the eight section prizes on offer.

Team A comprised Ian Rowney, Ben Holmes, Pete Tatley, Andy Hinson, Chris Wright, Martin Thackery jnr, Mark Crewe and Roy Wilson.

The B team consisted of Allen Gilbourne, Bob Place, Keith Barlow, Danny Crewe, Martin Thackery snr, Simon Cooper, Lee monnington and Jim Mee.

Meanwhile, in the club’s own latest match at Holly Farm Trotters Lake the following day, Paul Stirland won his first match of the season with 61lb 8oz of carp taken on paste and cat meat.

Ian Rowney was a good second with a level 50lb, just ahead of Pete Tatley (46lb 8oz) whose 12lb 8oz mirror carp won him the big fish prize.

There were no bragging rights in the Thackery household where Martin junior and Martin senior tied with 40lb 12oz each.

l Sherwood Forest Farm Park’s Holmedale lake finally produced a reasonable result for Pride of Warsop’s anglers with 18 of 19 weighing in.

Nick Greensmith on peg 22 caught good size carp from the start using feeder to the island and pole with pellet to the nearside to finish with a winning weight of 78lb.

Second place on peg 25 went to Mick Smith with 60lb 6oz of good size carp on pole and pellet

In third place on peg 24, 13 year old junior member Shane Marriott gave his seniors a good run for their money catching good sized carp throughout the match on the pellet waggler cast to the lilly pads, finishing with 57lb 12oz.

If Shane could have kept the carp out of the lilly pads he would have easily won the match.

l P. Buchanan led the way in Cavendish AC’s trip to Foston to fish the Willow Lakes.

Buchanan’s winning wewight of 51lb 12oz was boosted by a 9lb 2oz carp which was the biggest fish of the match.
