SUNDAY was no day of rest for Alfreton's bowlers and fielders as Ockbrook and Borrowash's Matt Lineker turned the screw against his former club at Victoria Avenue.
As Alfreton toiled in the heat Ockbrook piled on a massive 355 for 4 before declaring five overs short of their allotted 50.
Lineker put Alfreton to the sword with a typically belligerent 135, while Matt Cassar also topped the century mark with 11
1 and Johnny Owen (60 not out) continued the run feast.
Alfreton responded by playing out for the draw, and at the end of their 55 overs they stood at 227 for 6.
Alex Mace (67) and John Aspinall (60) were the main run makers for Alfreton, while Fahood Masood weighed in with 36 not out.
But left arm spinner Liam Wharton kept the Alfreton innings well in check with 5 for 55.
Saturday had proved rather more fruitful with a winning draw at The Park against Ilkeston Rutland, who responded to the home side’s 292 for 9 with 232 for 7.
Alfreton had an early setback when Nish Makwana was bowled by Sam Moulds for seven, but Will Challoner and Mace put on 62 for the second wicket to lay the foundation for a solid total.
Mace was bowled by George Moulds for 16, but by then Challoner was well into his stride and had reached his half-century.
Challoner added only three more runs before being caught by Kevin Leatherday off Robert Green for 53 off 43 balls.
Aspinall was removed cheaply for three to make it 106 for 4, but another useful stand of 67 for the fifth wicket by Fahad Masood and Andy Gwatkin put Alfreton back in control.
Masood finally went for 54 to end the pairing, caught by the third member of the Moulds family, Ben, off Adendorff.
But that served only to bring Peter Groves to the crease, and he and Gwatkin put on 42 for the sixth wicket pairing.
Gwatkin was finally stumped by Andy Hislop off Sam Moulds for a fairly patient 40, but Groves was in no mood to hang about with Alfreton reduced to tail end batting at the other end.
Graeme Bush was run out for three while trying to accelerate his scoring to make it 236 for 7.
But the next wicket, the eighth, saw 44 more runs added, as Groves opened his sholders.
