North Notts Ladies began their season in the best possible way, winning 4-1 at Nottingham University.
Notts started the better team, Lisa Butler in particular creating several chances from the right wing.

They eventually opened the scoring on 15 minutes, Amy Butler latching on to a good through ball from Holly Whittaker to score from the top of th
e D.

Notts made it 2-0 shortly before half time. Good build up play from Nicola Fletcher and Heather Cheetham found birthday girl Gemma Jackson who slotted a precise pass for Amy Butler to score from a tight angle.

Uni were the better team in the second half and pulled a goal back on 50 minutes. However, Notts responded almost immediately, Helen Clark scoring a great deflection after a good ball from the right to make the score 3-1.

Notts put the game out of reach in the 65th minute Amy Butler linking up well with Helen Clark down the right to make the final score 4-1.

Notts entertain Hinckley this Saturday (11am) and all support is welcome.

l North Notts Ladies II, after being promoted as champions, lost 3-1 in a hard first league game against West Bridgford Monarchs, who finished second in their league.

However, the game was very much end to end and evenly balanced throughout the first half. Notts were making some good passing links and attacks by Mandy Cotterill down the right hand side of the pitch and efforts were saved off the line by Ann Potter and outfield players.

The first goal came Notts’ way, after a penalty flick was awarded following an attacking piece of play by Natalya Baxter and Sam Irving.

Claire Stevenson took the flick and scored, placing it into the corner netting.

Bridgford were straight back on the attack and, although Notts took the initial pressure, they equalised from a short corner.

In the second half, after a short lapse of concentration by the defence, Bridgford put two quick goals away, but heads didn’t drop and Notts strove, albeit unsuccessfully, to get back into the game.

Jodi-Lee Clarey starred for North Notts.

l Notts Ladies III lost 2-1 at home to Trent Vale in their first league fixture.

Notts took the lead with a goal from player of the match Louise Sandell, following a strong pass into the D from Karina Colins, and they held onto this lead to half time.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with both teams having attacking chances. However, it was the visitors that converted the chances to equalise and then take the lead from a well taken short corner.

l North Notts Men’s senior team ended their pre-season build-up by turning around a poor first half performance at Newark to dominate the second period and win 4-1.

Notts began sharply and almost took a sixth minute lead when Alex Greer had a snapshot well saved.

But their early pressure proved unproductive and as the half progressed Newark began to impose themselves.

Although Allan Butler and Jamie Cluer both went close for the visitors, it was Newark who took a 31st minute lead from open play.
