THE ABACUS Lighting Central Midlands League have deferred plans to regionalise their two first team divisions for at least a year.
With at least eight Supreme Division clubs set to move up to Step 6 leagues, in particular the newly formed East Midlands Counties League, for next season, it had been intended to regionalise the two existing divisions into Northern and Southern sect
ions, with the North feeding into Northern Counties East League Division One and the South into the new EMCL.

But time has run out on plans to have the new structure up and running for next season, and instead the Buckingham Insurance Supreme and Manor Pharmacy Premier Divisions will continue.

Several new clubs are understood to have applied to join the league for next season, including local sides Kirkby Town and Church Warsop Welfare and, further afield, Skegness Town plus at least one Humberside club currently operating in the Humber Premier League.

How many, if any, of those clubs based their applications on regional divisions is not known, neither is the degree of likelihood of any of those clubs considering withdrawing their applications now that regionalisation is not happening.

Meanwhile, for the same reason of lack of time to put it in place, the league has also held back on going ahead with the proposed new reserve division for clubs whose first teams play at step 6 and above.

Instead, the current structure of Reserve Premier and Reserve Division One is to be maintained for at least one more season.
