Giants welcome quartet back for new season

MANSFIELD Giants senior men have announced the return of Ben Coy, Gary Collins, Paul Kelly and Dave Passmore for the new season.
New head coach Dan Richards said; “I am delighted they have all agreed to come back and play for me this year.

“I really liked the commitment and team work they gave the club over the past season and they were top of my list for this year. I want
ed to get a core of players and build the team around these guys.”

With the new squad almost complete, the Giants men are all working extremely hard to have a successfully season and other new signings will be announced soon.

The Giants have pre-season friendlies this Saturday at Oak Tree Leisure Centre against the Wellingborough Phoenix. The women tip-off at noon and the men at 2pm. Admission is just £1 for U16s and £2 for adults which includes both matches.

Giants are running Level 2 Table Officiating Course and Level 1 Referee courses on Saturday, 20th September at Oak Tree LC (noon-4pm). Cost is just £25.

To book your place on either course, please email mansfieldgiants@yahoo.co.uk or contact the Giants office on 01623 650770. Places need to be booked in advance. Cheques to be made payable to Mansfield Giants Juniors Basketball Club or cash can be paid on the day.

Training for the 2008/2009 season resumes for the Mansfield Giants Junior Basketball Club from Monday.

Any boy or girls wishing to play local and/or National League competition should turn up to the following venues to meet with existing players and the coaches of that age group.

School Year 3, 4, 5, 6 (Beginners) Under 12 Boys and Girls: Saturday 11am – noon, Oak Tree LC. School Year 5, 6, 7 (Experienced) Under 12 Boys and Girls: Tuesday 6pm – 7pm, The Brunts School. School Year 7, 8, 9. Under 14 Boys: Monday 6pm – 8pm, Queen Elizabeth School. School Year 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. Under 16 Girls: Tuesday 7.30pm – 9pm, Manor Sports and Recreation Centre. School Year 10, 11. Under 16 Boys: Monday 6pm – 8pm, Manor Sports and Recreation Centre. School Year 12, 13. Under 18 Boys: Wednesday 6pm – 8pm, Samworth Academy (Sherwood Hall School).
