FOREST Town will still be playing Supreme Divison football in the Central Midlands League next season.
Last Wednesday’s annual league meeting approved Forest Town’s plan to put up temporary floodlights to start the season, until they can put up their permanent lights later in the year.
The news has come as a welcome relief for the club who, despite
finishing runners-up last season, were facing relegation to the Premier Division if their plan had not been approved.
The league’s rule on one year’s grace for floodlights continues in place, and Gary Castledine’s successful team had their year last season.
Unfortunately the news of the temporary lights seems to have come too late for them to find a place in the new step 6 East Midlands Counties League.
Club spokesman Peter Craggs told Chad: “Our temporary lights have been accepted.
“The main lights should go up in the next three months. We had a bit of a delay with some of the funding requirements but this has now been sorted.”
Meanwhile Forest Town began pre-season training at the ground last night, and training continues at 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays until further notice.
All current players should report and new players of the required standard arewelcome.
Forest Town lso require a manager for their reserve team who will be competing in the newly formed Reserve Supreme Division for the coming season.
