Stags Ladies gave new manager Frank Hodgson a flying start to the new season with a resounding 7-2 away win at potentially difficult Peterborough Azure.
They started well and on six minutes a through ball from midfielder Amy Burrows found Lucy Webster on the edge of the six yard box, she quickly turned and netted.
But the Stags defence was caught napping when Azure levelled on 11 minutes.
However, Stags took a grip with two goals in the last three minutes of the half through Player of the Match Kayleigh Campbell and a Laura Furmidge free kick.
Burrows was now pulling the strings in midfield and found Campbell to make it 4-1 from 18 yards.
A defensive mix up on the hour allowed Azure another reply, but six minutes later Charlotte Montgomerymade it 5-2, and on 79 minutes Burrows found Becky Braithwaite who calmly chipped over the advancing keeper for 6-2.
Midfield wizard Burrows ran at the centre of the shellshocked defenders on 87 minutes to lob the keeper for number seven.
Stags ladies face another potentially difficult away match at local rivals Gedling Town this Sunday.
