Mansfield Lawn Tennis Club gets the summer off to a cracking start on Saturday with a Family Fun Day packed with activities for everyone to enjoy.
All are welcome to join in the fun at their base at Pheasant Hill, Mansfield, between 9.30am and noon.

Among the activities on offer will be free tennis coaching, free use of all courts including four grass courts, giveaways and a great BBQ.

C
lub spokesman David Waring said: “It’s a great chance for people of all ages and abilities to join in a fun event, and get some practice in for the summer ahead.

“We will have some expert coaches on hand to help with tips and there will also be loads of giveaways to take home.”

And if the fun day whets your appetite for even more tennis, you can get involved in a programme of Adult Tennis coaching which begins at the club on Tuesday 12th May – 6.30pm-8pm.

The cost is £4 per session. For details please contact Dave Waring on 07917556999.

l In an attempt to complete their winter fixture list, Sutton third mixed team played two re-arranged matches in one weekend which saw them win twice to take the Division Seven title.

The first match saw them playing host to David Lloyd West Bridgford’s seconds and win 69 games to 39 to leapfrog their opponents into second position.

Scores for individual pairings were Alison Wass and Roger Eggleston who won 30-6, father and daughter paring Gary and Rebecca Wood (26-10) and Svetlana Barker and David Wint (13-23).

Sutton then travelled to Eastwood on the Sunday to play their first team knowing that victory would ensure that they would become champions.

This was achieved by an identical scoreline to Saturday.

Scores for individual pairings were Jayne Commons and Roger Eggleston 27-9, Gary and Rebecca Wood 29-7 and Gemma Campion and David Wint 13-23.
