JOHN Evans waited until James Maude Linden AC's last match of the season on Kiveton Top Lake to record his first win of the campaign.
The club took a good turn out of 18 anglers for the six hour match to bring down the curtain on the season.

And although by his own standards Kev Brown had an average match he was crowned club champion, having topped the leader board and won the l
eague.

In this match though Evans took a level 50lb of carp to the scales. He fished feeder, fishing the PVA bag filled with pellets with hair rigged pellet, and caught steadily all day.

Secretary’s son Ashley Skeldon fished pellet at 10 metres on the pole and weighed in 36lb 8oz for second place.

l Fishing as a visitor with Mansfield Piscatorials for the first time, Roger Holmes had an easy win at Lake View with 44lb, all taken on pole and maggot.

Second-placed Dave Bonser had his best result of the season with 37lb 8oz on the same method, and also won the big fish prize with a 6lb 4oz common carp.

l Although weather conditions were good at Wetlands, Church Warsop MW anglers found the fishing poor.

With six of the 16 anglers blanking and overall weights low it was a disappointing affair.

Mick Smith caught carp on pole fished worm for first place, putting 27lb 11oz on the scales, just ahead of second-placed Ray Russell who had 23lb 1oz.

Nick Greensmith, in third, managed to winkle two carp out in the last half-hour for 13lb 12oz.

Although the barbel, chub and bream did not show on the Trent at Radcliffe Viaducts, Oak Tree anglers had a decent match in good conditions, with roach making up most of the day’s catch.

Tery Heath easily secured his second win of the series with an excellent all-roach net of 19lb 6oz using stick float and maggot tactics.

Runner-up Deb Bramwell fished similarly for 10lb 9oz of roach, and her husband Rob landed the big fish prize for a 1lb roach.
