Mansfield Triathlon Club's Dave Miles warmed up for his forthcoming attempt at the Enduroman Double Iron UK Triathlon on 2nd/3rd August by racing in the Ironman Germany event in Frankfurt.
He finished just outside his target time of 11 hours with a time of 11.07.03.

The Ironman consisted of a 2.4 mile open water swim, followed by a 112-mile cycle leg, finishing off with a 26.2 mile run.

Miles clocked a time of 1.09.59 for the swim, 5.21.06 for the cycle, and 4.27.37 for the marathon-distance run to complete the race.

The Enduroman Double Iron UK event, being held in Birmingham, will consist of a 4.8 mile pool swim, a 224-mile cycle ride, finishing with a mere jog around a 52 mile run course.

Miles is one of 48 ultra distance triathletes attempting this event, which will consist of a multi-lap format requiring approximately 309 lengths of a 25m swimming pool, 16 laps of a 14 mile bike course and 42 laps of a 1.24 mile run course, making repetition and boredom as significant a challenge as the distances involved.

The competitors have a maximum of 40 hours in which to complete the race.
