The annual Mansfield Sprint Triathlon took place at Meden Vale Leisure Centre in glorious sunshine on Sunday.
The event, which traditionally takes place in June, has been brought forward to extend the triathlon season.

The local Mansfield Triathlon Club made their mark on the event, not just with their bright yellow tri-suits, but with some stunning results. Local boy Chris Dale won the U24 age group, despite being just 17-years-old.

The event, which covers a 400m pool swim, 10 mile cycle ride and three mile run, was won overall by Nick Dunn from Nottingham in 44 minutes 59 seconds. His margin of victory was just 17 seconds. Chris Dale finished in 47 minutes 55 seconds, indicating his potential for the future.

The Mansfield Triathlon is perfect for triathletes of all levels, including compete beginners and 48- year-old Hugh Barnett, who is a member of the local triathlon club, completed the event in one hour 28 minutes. The youngest competitor was just 15 and the oldest was 69-year-old John Clarke from Sheffield, who finished in a very respectable one hour, nine minutes.
