Chris Adcock from Ravenshead and Peter Mills from Southwell became the first Nottinghamshire pair to win the Nottinghamshire Open Men's Doubles title since the war at Chilwell Olympia.
It was a fitting result for Nottinghamshire badminton as Mrs Pat Wadsworth presented a new Memorial Trophy in memory of her late husband John, former president of Nottinghamshire Badminton Association and referee of the tournament for over 40 years.
Other local successes were Shaun Round, who reached the semi-final of the men's singles and Peter Mills, semi-finalist in the mixed doubles with his partner Jessica White (Yorks).
The tournament was attended by over 100 entries, including the full England U19 squad, using the event as a training session for the upcoming Six Nations Tournament, and some excellent close-fought matches took place over the two days.
Tournament winners were:
Men's Singles: Andrew Ellis (Yo) beat Alan Clarkson (La). Women's Singles: Michelle Cheung (Bu) beat Sarah Renton (Nd). Men's Doubles: Chris Adcock & Peter Mills (Nm) beat Alan Clarkson & Alex Hird (La). Women's Doubles: Hayley Connor (Sy) & Sarah Bok (Yo) beat Mariana Agathangelou (Jy) & Michelle Cheung (Bu). Mixed Doubles: Andrew Ellis (Yo) and Mariana Agathangelou (Jy) beat Alan Clarkson (La) & Gill Dabek (Ch).
