Soccersixes this week were celebrating as the six aside league operating at Dukeries Leisure Centre on Wednesdays was awarded the Gold FTBL award for passing high standards of league operation.
The award is one which is independently assessed by the FTBL UK Sports Federation Committee and they looks at all aspects of the six aside league including the standard of qualified referees, the disciplinary structure, the systems and leagues proced
ures and the overall set up of the league.
Soccersixes operate the league on different nights of the week and the award now indicates the league is of a good standard.
A spokesperson from the FTBL Federation Steven McCullock commented:
"We have been working with Soccersixes for the past twelve months and hold regular meetings to make assessments on the league to improve everything we can and to make the league of a high standard. We asked Soccersixes to apply for the award and we are very pleased that our committee have assessed and passed the award."
Soccersixes Managing Director, Ross Spacey, was very pleased in gaining the award and passed on his thanks to the referees for their assistance,
"We have worked with the referee's for the past twelve months in trying to operate a quality six aside league. We were very confident when making an application for the Gold Award that we would pass as we feel the league is operated to a high standard.
"The league is always having teams requesting information and applications forms and therefore this gives us an indication that we are doing things right at the league with new teams wanting to join all the time.
"We affiliate the league to the Football Association, and much credit must go to the referees at the league as they have assisted greatly in obtaining this excellent award for the league."
