BOLSOVER castle was thrown back in time this weekend –– as the historic venue plays host to knights in shining armour and damsels in distress for this year's Grand Medieval Joust.
The two-day event over Sunday and Monday was been arranged by English Heritage and saw knights from all corners of the land gather to take part in a real jousting competition –– culminating in a head-to-head face-off to crown one champion.

  • Chad was invited to Bolsover to get a sneak preview of some of the attractions on offer. Click the green play icon to watch the video.

Over the two days, visitors met fully-armoured knights, witness convincing fight demonstrations and falconry displays and enjoy music from medieval minstrels.

Children also got the chance to see if they have what it takes to be make it as a knight at the special Knights Academy –– where they learned sword skills, practice battle drills, don armour and took part in a mini-joust.

To view some photographs from the exciting event, go to our gallery.
