THOUSANDS of jobs could be created at Bolsover's former Coalite Works if a developer gets the green light to build new industrial and warehouse units at the site.
Development company Goodman International wants to breathe new life into the area by redeveloping the Buttermilk Lane site –– bringing around 3,000 new jobs to the area.

The disused site has been closed since 2004 and plans for its redevelopment will be on display at Bolsover Assembly Hall on 25th June, between 4-8pm.

Said Martin Eckersall, associate director of infrastructure for Goodman International: "The proposal site presents an excellent opportunity for new employment opportunities within Bolsover. We hope that many residents will attend the public exhibition and provide feedback given the site's importance within the Bolsover community."

The news has been welcomed by council chiefs, who say the area is in desperate need of investment.

Said Bolsover District Council's cabinet member for regeneration, Coun Alan Tomlinson: "We are obviosuly delighted that someone has shown an interest in developing this derelict site and bringing it back into business use –– use that will provide a much-needed jobs boost to the local area."
