BOLSOVER Police are investigating an increase in the thefts of number plates, which they believe are taken as souvenirs rather than being used in crimes.
Officers from the Bolsover Safer Neighbourhood Team are now appealing for witnessess after several incidents over the last six months.

Following a series of attempted break-ins to vehicles in the Ridgedale Road area, the team is also urging people to be more security conscious when parking their cars.

"There have been several incidents of these types of thefts over the last six months," said PCSO Ben Perry.

"While we do not think they are being used as false plates in crimes, this sort of theft does cause inconvenience to the vehicle owner, not to mention the cost of replacing the missing plates.

"Fortunately, the break-ins were unsuccessful, but we would like motorists to be aware of what's happening and report any suspicious behaviour."

Anyone with information should contact Bolsover Safer Neighbourhood Team on 0845 123 3333 or email bolsover.neighbourhoods@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk.
