A GROUP of Applied Science students from Shirebrook School, have completed a Young First Aider course with the St John Ambulance as part of GCSE course work.
Wearing bandages in a mock-up situation, are pictured from left, James Law, Ryan Attenborough, Emily Warriner and Nikita Dennison.

Students were shown how to deal with emergencies at home and in the laboratory such as choking, bleeding and broken bones as well as how to deal with everyday problems such as asthma, bites and stings.

The course was part of study covering many aspects of working safely in science and will be accredited towards their GCSE marks.

Students were accompanied by Mr Richard Wiles, Key Stage Three Co-ordinator for Science.
