CONTRIBUTORS Karen Williams, Diana Newey, June Robinson and Anne Joyce, pictured from left, at Bolsover Parish Church's four-day flower festival.
Women of the Word, featuring women of the Bible, were the subjects for this year's flower festival and members of the church and community groups reproduced the theme in their floral arrangements.

On the first day, Friday week, St Joseph's RC Church Choir, Langwith Junction, conducted by musical director Mrs Miriam Richardson, gave a concert including church, pop and showtime music. They were introduced and thanked by the Vicar, the Rev Trevor Hicks.

During the summer fair on the Saturday a musical interlude was provided in church by pianist Mr Ian Bromley.

Sung Eucharist on the Sunday was celebrated by the Curate, the Rev Terry Williams. A sermon was given by the vicar. The Old Testament lesson was read by Mr L. Hewitt and the New Testament, by Mrs J. Robinson. Intercessions were by Mrs B. Slatcher. Sidesmen were Mrs G. Oldfield and Mrs G. Lewis. Bread and wine were taken to the altar by Mesdames L. Fulleylove, B. Ford and E. Mitchell. Organist was Mr A. Yeomans. The afternoon family service was led by the vicar and the curate. Sunday school children took part and used the theme of their flower arrangement, Moses in the Bulrushes, as their Bible story.

Mr Frank Berry, of Chesterfield, played the organ in church. It was the one on which he had learned many years before. He showed the sheets of music which had been given to him by his teacher and former organist at the church, Jim Swain.

Evensong was led by the vicar and the curate. Lessons were read by Miss B. Swain. The choir, conducted by Mr A. Yeomans, sang Jubilate. Sidesman was Mrs M. Adin. Organist was Mr T. Yeomans. Afterwards a raffle with 50 prizes was drawn.

The festival closed on the Monday with a service led by Mr Hicks and Mr Williams.
