There was the chance to meet some the people and characters who lived in or helped to shape the history of the famous forest from ancient times.
The event was organised in conjunction with the Sherwood Forest Rangers and Visitor Centre.
At the Major Oak, a bustling 15th Century medieval camp formed a centrepiece with archers, camp followers and craftsmen, including some selling their wares.
At the same time, the famous order of military monks, the Knights Hospitallers, offered have-a-go archery lessons for adults and children.
Sherwood Forest site manager Izi Banton told Chad: "It was a brilliant weekend and the weather was spectacularly kind to us.
"A lot of people came without realising we were putting on an event so we had plenty of positive feedback.
"It is particularly good for children as they are walking through history so the scene changes all the time. It is the fourth year we have run the event and it gets better each year."
