A CHARITY gala and football tournament to raise money for an ill Forest Town prison officer and his family will take place on Sunday.
Twenty-nine-year-old Simon Hennessy, a Nottingham HMP prison officer, featured in Chad in April after undergoing surgery for a brain tumour.

The fundraising day has been organised by his friends, family and old football team Robin Hood Colts to help improve Simon's quality of life and pay for radiotherapy transport costs as he can no longer work or drive.

Former chairman of Robin Hood Colts, Alan Green, said: "The fundraiser is a great way of raising funds for Simon and will be a great display of the compassion in our community."

The event, which includes an auction, refreshments and sporting celebrities, takes place at Sherwood Fields, off Sixth Avenue, Edwinstowe, on Sunday from 11am-3.30pm.

Companies wishing to make a donation, hire a stand or give a raffle prize should contact Kirsty on 07889 923854.
