SPECIALIST Rescue Team (SRT) members from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) put their skills to the test during a challenging training session in Boughton on Friday.
The crews were tasked with working as a team, using their knowledge and specialist equipment in rescuing casualties from large vehicles.

They were faced with a train crash scenario before rescuing two casualties from a mock collision between a car and a 20-tonne articulated lorry at B&D Motors in Boughton.

The sessions were organised by the NFRS training team, which is based at the service development centre in Ollerton.

Watch manager Grant Smith, who is one of four trainers that organised the sessions, told Chad: "With the East Coast and Midland main lines running through the county, as well as the A1 and M1, it is important that the team is able to train in this way so that they can deal with real life incidents efficiently and safely.

"This team was set up specifically to deal with more complex rescues, such as those involving heavy vehicles. This opportunity to train using realistic scenarios will be invaluable and I would like to thank B&D Motors for their continuing support."
