NEWARK & Sherwood District Council planners are asking for the views of local people and organisations on how they negotiate with developers.
They have launched a consultation on a draft document which sets out how companies which apply to build major developments will have to make contributions towards infrastructure such as roads, schools and open spaces.

Coun Roger Blaney, cabinet member for sustainable development and regeneration, said: "Our ability to negotiate these vital services with developers will become even more important now we are a growth point area.

"As more houses and jobs are created, negotiating with developers to contribute to roads, schools, open spaces and public transport will be vital."
