CHILDREN at The Old Fire Station Day Nursery in Blidworth are happy, confident and making good progress.
The Mansfield Road nursery is scored as 'good' in all but one section of its latest Ofsted report.

And inspectors praised staff for their quality of teaching and learning which encourages children to progress well.

The report says: "Staff have a good understanding of the foundation stage and use this knowledge to effectively plan and provide interesting and challenging opportunities enabling children to make good progress.

"Children benefit from staff using a variety of teaching methods that encourage self-discovery and reinforce learning.

"Children are motivated and engaged in their play and learning."

The inspection team also highlighted areas in which the nursery has improved since its last report, including improving children's learning in addition, subtraction, health and bodily awareness.

But they said the nursery could improve further in a number of areas, including promoting children's good health and continuing to develop observation, assessment and evaluation to identify children's progress.

Overall, inspectors said the nursery was a safe and happy environment where children play confidently and are well looked after by staff.

Nursery manager Claire Huthwaite told Chad: "We are really proud that Ofsted has recognised the high level of care and education we deliver at our nursery.

"A big thank you to the staff for their dedication and hard work."
