A BLIDWORTH pensioner died from pneumonia after a fall at his Oak Avenue home, a Nottingham inquest was told on Thursday.
John Hopkins (88) was found lying on the kitchen floor of his home by his carer on the morning of 11th April.

He was taken to King's Mill Hospital –– where an X-ray revealed he had suffered a broken sternum –– but his condition deteriorated and he died on 17th April.

The inquest was told Mr Hopkins was frail, had Alzheimer's and dementia and had suffered a number of falls, but had refused to go into respite care.

Assistant deputy coroner for Nottinghamshire Catherine Mason recorded a verdict of accidental death.
