MOTORSPORTS can often be a male dominated passion, but for one Edwinstowe women the need for speed is exactly the same.
Car fan Adele Woodbridge has been drag racing with her husband Steve for the last eight years with the couple devoting every spenny penny and minute to enhancing their VW.
But the countless hours of dedication have paid off for the duo and brought then victory in the 2009 Competition Eliminator Series as well as runners-up in the Open Sports Finals and National Finals as well as the European Trials Competition Eliminator.
The former Meden Comprehensive student, currently races in the Outlaw Flat 4 Championship on courses in Northamptonshire and Stratford and has raced in Las Vegas and California.
Said Adele: "Motor racing is a big love of mine. I just love racing and I love the challenges, that is what drives me on.
"We feel that we have gone as far as we can at the moment, which is frustrating because we always want to push on and go as far as we can
"I have raced in America before and it was an amazing experience in front of those massive crowds. The facilities and the fans were just amazing."
The husband and wife team now hope to relocate to America to test themselves in the high-profile Pro Modified Series.
But to make that dream come true the couple need around £3,000 to pay the shipping costs to take the car over to the States.
"As a pair we have worked very hard on the car. We have scrimped and saved every penny to invest it in the car over a three year period and worked countless hours getting it right.
"We have worked into the early hours on many an occasion, but it's all been worth it because it is something we really love to do," added Adele.
"We now need sponsorship money to help take us forward and realise our dream of racing in America and hitting the big time.
"I would love to be in America racing against the big names. The sport over there is just massive and it would be an amazing opportunity."
As well as testing her skills against the world's best in America, ambitious now hopes to set a new record as the fastest European female racer.
The current record stands at 10.85 seconds, with Adele's personal best tantalisingly close at 11.40 seconds.
Said focused Adele: "The car is built to go faster but we just need a more powerful engine and then I think the record speed is achievable.
"But it is all about the money at the moment and we need a cash injection to take us forward. We just want to go as far as we can and be as successful as we can."
Adele currently works as a logistics manager, while Steve works as an ATM manager for the same company.
