TEVERSAL slipped to defeat against Barton Town, despite a cameo appearance from former England star Chris Waddle, after two controversial goals went against them.
The defeat was Teversal's third league loss in a row, but the game was closer than the 3-1 scoreline may suggest.

Barton took the lead on 10 minutes when a neat passing move saw Morton with the time and space to deliver a telling cross into the mi
ddle.

And with Barlow hovering, Tevie defender Fisher attempted to clear but only succeeding in firing into his own goal.

Tevie levelled on 24 minutes when a patient build-up saw Orton and Green combine to find Plumbe, who clinically fired home past the stranded Barton keeper.

But controversy raised its ugly head when an offside goal saw Barton regain the lead.

Taylor lifted a ball over the top of the Teversal defence who had pushed out to leave Moulds in an offside position.

But play was waved on allowing Moulds to fire Barton ahead.

On 41 minutes it got worse for Teversal when the assistant referee was again at the centre of controversy when he waved play on at what the home bench saw as an even more blatant offside.

Taylor then fired home past the stranded Wilson to give Barton a firm grip on the game.

To add further insult to injury, Teversal went up the park with a neat passing move which saw Orton clinically fire home.

But as the ball nestled in the net the referee awarded a free-kick after a foul by Plumbe.

Barton Town made the most of the situation and produced an excellent defensive second half performance to keep the home side advances at bay, whilst attacking with flair on the break when the opportunity arose.

On 60 minutes history was made for the Tevie Boys, when an ex-England international donned a Teversal shirt in a competitive game for the first time when former star Chris Waddle made his debut.

The now Tevie coach showed he still had the tricks and flair, if not the legs during his half-hour stint.

Fellow winger Jake Currie came close with a speculative 50 yard effort that had Bramley in the visitors' goal hastily back tracking.

Tevie continued to push and created some excellent opportunities, with Atkins and Currie both going close.

The home side also saw two penalty shouts being turned away as they were left to count the cost of the officials' decisions which went against them on the day.
