This is the largest local nature reserve in the district and covers 17 hectares of protected habitats alongside the River Maun.
The reserve includes ancient Oak woodland, grassland, water meadows and wetland habitats between Bath Lane and New Mill Lane.
The River Maun has played a crucial role in the development of Mansfield and remains an important part of the natural environment.
As it runs through the district, the river provides habitats for wildlife and offers an excellent amenity and recreation area.
