LETTER: Delighted Ashland Road application was turned down

As district councillor for Huthwaite and Brierley, I am absolutely delighted with the planning committee's decision at Ashfield District Council to turn down the application to build more than 200 houses on the Ashland Road West site within my ward. (Read the full story here.)

From day one, I was against this application and I am so happy for Malc Hull, of the residents’ association, and all the residents in the area.

Brierley Park has taken more than 20 years to establish what it is today.
Any building work close to this site would, in my opinion, have a serious impact on the wildlife and their park itself.

Hopefully the planning inspector will see sense too and throw this application out, so we can all enjoy Brierely Park for many years to come.
