Keeping Berry Hill Park green space open is a necessity

Councillor Stewart Rickersey's letter and the news article, both in the Chad on November 21, take the view that Mansfeld District Council, which has the ability and means, needs to take responsibility for the Berry Hill Park.

Coun Rickersey tells us that an eyewatering capital payment and six-figure annual maintenance payment is necessary to secure the long term future of the park.

A petition to keep the park open has reached nearly 8,000 signatures. Keeping the park open is a necessity, as it was for Warsop Sports Centre. Will the Mayor of Mansfeld continue with her out-of-area investment policy?

Will the council continue with its policy of high car park fees? Will the mayor play hard ball with a park in her own back yard? Is her only aim not to increase Mansfeld District council tax?

I, and many others in Warsop, are watching the situation with interest.
