THREE Mansfield Woodhouse men have been jailed for their involvement in two assaults last year, one which left a 24-year-old man suffered life-threatening head injuries when he was attacked at his home in Ley Lane in the town last May.

Adam Groves (23), of Park Avenue, and Martin Groves (49), of Leas Road, had previously admitted grievous bodily harm in connection with this incident.

In another attack the previous evening in Mansfield town centre two men were assaulted in a bar.

Adam Groves and Ashley Groves (25), also of Park Avenue, admitted actual bodily harm in connection with this assault.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, Adam Groves was given an indeterminate prison sentence, to serve a minimum of five years. He will be released only once a parole board is satisfied he does not pose a risk to the public.

Martin Groves was sentenced to nine years in prison, while Ashley groves received a two-year sentence.

Dwane Chapman (24), of Park Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse, who also admitted GBH and ABH, will be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 25th March.
