Woman “lucky to get out” of crash in Mansfield Woodhouse

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a serious crash this afternoon after it was reported two vehicles had caught fire.

The collision happened on Ley Lane in Mansfield Woodhouse shortly before 5pm, between a van and a car.

Two people had managed to release themselves from the vehicles prior to the arrival of the emergency services. The female driver of the car was treated at the scene and then taken to hospital with suspected head injuries.

A spokesman at Mansfield Fire Station described it as a serious incident and said the woman was “lucky to get out”.

Part of the carriageway was blocked and rush-hour traffic around the area continues to build as police direct vehicles.
